Maple and Ginger Glazed Salmon

Looking for a healthy food option? Head to your local fish market where you can purchase wild-caught Norwegian salmon without preservatives, dyes, or pesticides. When selecting the fish, you’ll want to purchase the think-cut side because that will allow for even cooking. Salmon has the benefits of containing lots of vitamins, protein and Omega-3. The maple and ginger glaze incorporates an amazing blend of savory spices, citrusy flavors, and a touch of sweetness with the addition of pure maple syrup. You can grill, pan fry or bake this fish in the oven. This dish pairs well with rice and grilled vegetables such as squash and zucchini.

Maple and Ginger Glazed Salmon

  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 3 tbsp. orange juice
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 of a fresh lime, juiced
  • 1 tsp. apricot jam
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. white pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground mustard (dried)
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger (dried)
  • 1/2 tsp. cilantro (dried)

Method of Preparation

Place a shallow frying pan on the stove top and turn to medium-low heat. Add in the 1 tbsp. of butter and let melt. Once melted, add in 3 tbsp. of orange juice, 1/3 cup pure maple syrup, the juice from 1/2 of a freshly squeezed lime, 1 tsp. apricot jam, and 1 tsp. brown sugar. Then, add in the dried spices (white pepper, salt, ground mustard, ground ginger, cilantro). Next, place the fish with the skin side up and the fish side down in the pan and let cook for 30 minutes until most of the liquid is absorbed. Near the end of the cooking process, you will see a beautiful glaze and the salmon will flake apart when fully cooked. Serve with a side of rice and grilled veggies.
